I loved it!!!But I must agree what happened in between the movies. I really did like it. I hope they make another one. Jack Garrison was cute and all but why did he have to be in the movie? It's almost like they are trying to get anne to cheat on Gilbert and after movie 2 i don't think that should be possible. (04/17/00)

Anne, the Continuing Story, was a good movie in itself, but NOT as an Anne movie. I agree with a lot of the people who were disappointed in the new Anne 3 movie. I was so excited when I heard that it was coming out, but when I saw it, I was really disappointed. It didn't have the familar things that all of Anne's fans love. The theme song, Anne's funny way of looking at things, imagining things, etc. That's what made up Anne. And I didn't like the way the new movie kept jumping from thing to thing, the way they portrayed Diana, etc. Though I really really really would like to see an Anne 4, I hope...and I mean HOPE it's done according to the books. (PLEASE MAKE AN ANNE 4 WITH ALL THE SAME CHARACTERS IN IT. THAT WAS ONE THING I LIKED ABOUT THE ANNE 3 MOVIE)=) (04/14/00)

Anne 3..... where does one start? Having watched Anne 1 & 2 over and over for many years, with a warm 'visiting old friends' feeling... how could I have been prepared for the final instalment..? For starters, they seem to have suddenly confused the genre. We are taken from the heartwarming adventures of 1 & 2, and thrust into a war movie with (I'm sorry) flat, dry characters (also acting out of character) and a 'nun on the run' Anne. The music was wrong... it was depressing right from the start.. then we have the lovely 'let's trash Green Gables' scene. How is that for twisting the knife in our hearts. Diana is portrayed as shallow and selfish. The very idea of Anne heading off into the middle of a war zone... Our sweet orphan Anne (with an E) Shirley. With every second of watching this movie, I felt the value of the other two movies plummet. I felt the books screaming at the injustice... I felt Lucy Maud Montgomery rolling over in her grave... I felt like ripping the tape out of the machine and breaking it, I was so offended. Who watches the Anne movies? Fans. What do the fans want? The real story. We know the real story... we trust in it... Of course we're willing to suspend our belief a little if the movie mixes things up a bit... But the story was bashed senseless into degrading garbage!! How can they ignore the books so completely? Why can we never see Anne and Gilbert's family on the screen? It was their boys who went off to war... Rilla who followed in Anne's old adventurous footsteps. The books had the power to make us laugh and cry. Anne 1 & 2 had this same degree of magic. Anne 3 was.... simply tragic. As with my close friends who are fans of Green Gables, I choose to try and block out Anne 3. Unfortunately, it seems to have infected my system... the image of Anne... All I can say is... who is this stranger who looks like her, and what have they done with the real Anne and the real story?! (I only wish I had a delete button in my head). I feel I must rate this ( negative infinity). (04/13/00)

The Continuing Story was a good movie, very emotional. However, it was not Anne of Green Gables. Although it was fun to see some of the old characters, I missed the beautiful music that accompanied the first two Annes, and I was hoping for more of the Continuing Story to be as Lucy Maude Montgomery continued it in her novels. If there is an Anne 4, and that would be great to see, I hope that Kevin Sullivan will go back to the original source for the way Anne's and Gilbert's lives unfold from here. (04/06/00)

It was brilliant! It definitely did not follow the books but it was a great film. It was emotional, romantic and action packed all in 1. It is certainly as good as the other 2 films. (03/29/00)

I was most disappointed in the lack of consistency between the characters in Annes 1 and 2 and Anne 3, as well as the lack of film/books consistency. Anne 2, although not entirely consistent with the novels, at least had an amalgamation of various plotlines into a cohesive whole. Anne 3 had nothing of the kind. I was annoyed by the way Anne herself was portrayed with nothing of the heedlessness of old, and none of the passion. The real Anne would not ever let anyone tell her how to write!!! Not only that, the real Anne would never be seen taking swigs of whiskey with showgirls...she would have stayed true to the high moral standards that Marilla instilled in her. I really didn't like the way Diana was portrayed. She was never that selfserving in Anne 2, and there is no way that money would change her tune that much...nor would it cause her to treat poor Fred so badly. The portrayal of Mrs Lynde was completely inconsistent, I would have thought that she would stay in Green Gables to give Anne a home after Marilla Died. Some attention to Marilla's death would also have been helpful...too much had happened in the intervening time to truely be at home with the current circumstances. I hated the new music...the old and familiar tune would have at least preserved some remnant of Anneishness. I did however like the flashbacks to the first two movies...this created at least some feeling of "I know where I am now". I also liked the use of the same actors where possible; it created some familiarity, however the actress who played Josie Pye was entirely too stilted- she was more spontaneous in the first two films, and where did the emnity go? All in all, a pretty poor effort on Sullivan's part. I would like to see an Anne 4, however, having changed the storyline this much, I doubt that the feel of the originals could be recaptured sufficiently to satisfy die-hard fans. (03/22/00)
