I did enjoy the movie because it was an 'Anne of Green Gables" movie but it was very different from the first two. I missed the whole innocence and Anne's wild imagination. I love the whole Anne and Gil story but there was too much of Jack trying to come between them. Please, Please make a 4th and restore all of our hopes and dreams again on the good old fashioned innocence and adventure of ANNE OF GREEN GABLES!! (08/25/00)

I have to say I enjoyed watching Anne 3, but I wished they would show of Anne & Gilbert leaving their day to day life more. (08/24/00)

It seems that some of those who liked Anne 3 are being unnecessarily hostile to those Anne fans (My wife and I included) who hated it. Everyone should be entitled to express their views without being attacked. I don't see why anyone liked this movie - and I say this as someone who LOVED the first two movies and my family and I have watched them countless times. This was NOT an Anne movie in my opinion. Mr. Sullivan apparently thought that all he need do was put Megan and Jonathan on the screen together and everyone would be happy no matter how bad the plot was. Instead of the charm, wit and humor Anne fans expected, we watched Anne run around war-torn France carrying a whinning baby and running errants for the totally unworthy Jack Garrison, (who seemed primarily interested in seducing Anne away from her husband). All the characters seemed baser, coarser and more vulgar than in the first two movies. There seemed to be an anti-religious bias in Anne 3 that was not present in the first two movies. The poorly written script did not even make sense in places, and the actors all seemed a little lost as they floundered their way through it. Gone was the optimism of AOGG, replaced by a second-rate soap opera! I wanted to see more of Anne and Gil together, more of Green Gables (I didn't see any reason for them to give it away), more P.E.I., more Rachel Lynde .... and a whole lot less Jack, explosions and bloodshed. No need to place the story in WWI, but even with the war as a background, the movie could have been much, much better. I don't object to war movies, but I expected Anne to be a family movie - instead I see Jack 'accidentally?' expose himself to Anne, I see hints of adultery, I see Anne drinking while dressed as a nun, I see a drunken minister at her all too brief wedding. There is more than enough of this sort of thing on TV as it is, why reduce Anne to that level? Personally, I think Sullivan was trying to win over the 'Dawson's Creek' and 'Buffy' teenagers by making a Anne movie with more action, bloodshed, lower moral standards, and a grimmer, bleaker storyline. Apparently, he just wrote off the middle-aged and older fans. What people who liked Anne 3 need to appreciate is that people who hated the movie loved the old Anne, and didn't want her to be mutated. We are hurt, disappointed, depressed, let down, and speaking for myself, I feel down-right betrayed as well! And no one at Sullivan Entertainment seems to care about us. We are true Anne fans, and are entitled to our feelings. Remember you got a movie you liked, we got slapped in the face. (08/21/00)

This movie made me want to cry! IT had nothing to do with the first Anne movies, or the Anne books!!! What--there wasn't enough drama in the rest of the series? Hmmm that's funny considering how many more books were written and they all have plots!!! Comon! I was hoping for Anne's House of Dreams!!! And after everything--Couldn't we have gotten more Gilbert!!!! He was in the movie for what? Eight minutes!!?!?!? And I felt totally gypped by the wedding!! I mean-I waited YEARS for that, and they hardly show a thing---I'm of the opinion that we pretend this movie never exsisted, and that we write a "NEW" continuing story--one MUCH more in keeping with the themes of the books! (Plus I HATED her soujurn in New YOrk! I realise she needed to meet Jack (Who by the way I thought was a stupid, pointless plot device) but it took forever! ) ONe good point--I liked Josie & Moody (?) being in it...it was a good touch--there should have been more old characters!-- I would LOVE to see what happened to Emmeline Harris!!!---JUst one Anne Lover's opinion--- (PS--Can we PUH_LEASE see more of Jonathan Crombie??!??!?! Perhaps sans shirt? ;-) (08/21/00)

Anne 3 was an huge let down. My friend and I just finished watching Anne 1&2 and didn't even consider watching the 3rd.....because in our eyes, there never was a 3rd. What Kevin Sullivan did was a blasphemy. My friend and I feel that Kevin Sullivan has ruined a large part of our childhood. We think.....actually......we know that we could write a far better script than what he wrote. It did have it's good points, like Anne doing the face plant in the sand, and the restoring of Green Gables, and how Anne picking up Dominique at the station paralleled Mathew & Anne's first encounter. That was cute. However, the good points were completely out weighed by the horrible points. Why was the AOGG them music by Hagood Hardy not used?!?!?!!? That makes no sense. It's like doing a Cheers reunion with out "Where Everybody Knows Your Name". And obviously the fact that when you're making a 3rd part of the most famous CHILDREN'S movie ever, it might be an idea to make it suitable for children....i.e. it can't be 95% blood and death. And last but far from least, why would Anne ever give Green Gables to Diana??? Even after she went on and on about it being her house, and the only home she could ever want. Changed her mind I guess. So now it's not even Anne of Green Gables......it's DIANA OF GREEN GABLES?!?!?!?&^%$#@&!. And of course, how could he end the movie with out a romantic moment with Anne & Gill??? They weren't even looking at each other? That was stupid. He could have made that soooo much more romantic. Anyway, if a fourth episode is ever made, someone better make sure that Sullivan isn't in the driver seat. LMM would role over in her grave if she saw Anne #3. (08/21/00)

I hated it! I agree with those of you who said it wasn't an Anne movie. It didn't even follow L.M. Montgomery's books. Her stories were good enough for the first two movies, so why did Sullivan deem her other stories unworthy. There are so many Anne of Green Gables fans out there that love the whold series of books. They didn't stop reading them after the first three! They should have stuck to the real story line! (08/20/00)

How can you people out there possibly even considering liking Anne 3? I thought it was pants ! I was sooo disapointed with it. And do you people who do like it have to be so smart alec with your replies? Anne 3 sold its innocence for what? A cheap whirl with Jack Garrison (totally against Annes character) and some war-time thrills. (08/20/00)

I honestly thought that I would not like it due to its lack of faithfulness to the books. It was well put together however with a brilliant plot which made it the mature non chickflick that it was before. I don't know how you could want more Anne-and-Gil in it......the whole last hour was about them. How much more Annish do you want? She was persistant, firey, and the war cirumstances would not allow for poetry.....it would have made it stupid! I also think that the characters were true just the plot was made up......good plot though. My only criticism is that Jack's character shouldn't have been allowed to try so hard to come between Anne and Gil. Nice that it showed Anne as faithful to Gil though. Nice work. Anne 4? Yeah sure why not? (08/19/00)
