Despite the lack of resemblance to the original Anne books due to legal issues with the LMM heirs, Anne 3 movie has some great character developments & poignant moments of facing realities. We see Anne & Gil against a broader horizon. I must admit I ended up liking Jack Garrison much more than Morgan Harris in Anne 2 & wished Gil had much more screen time to develop his character. When all's said & done, there IS a certain magic lost in Anne 3 movie that I can't put my finger on; wonder if it's partly because Sullivan didn't direct this production. (07/25/00)
Honestly, I haven't watched the whole movie yet. Living in the U.S., I have only seen the first tape and am eagerly awaiting Sunday, when I will be able to watch the second half. But realistically, I found the plot hard to follow. I came across the movie midway and I didn't understand it at all. It was only when I looked at the website that I understood. However, I really would've liked to see them follow the actual books rather than thinking up of a new plot. But I loved seeing Megan and Jonathon in the movie. So I'm sort of not sure about what I think of the movie... Until Sunday.... (07/25/00)
I agree with what Audrey said; Anne dreaming this movie up as a novel plot would be so very much like Anne! The ending was perfect for a take off on another film, Anne's House of Dreams! I really would like to hear some self written vows by Anne and Gil! (07/25/00)
After months of eagerly awaiting Anne 3, I have to say I was bitterly disappointed. I loved seeing Megan and Jonathon again- they have great chemistry together, and did a great job with what they were given to work with. But the whole movie seemed rushed and almost seemed like there were scenes missing that had been cut or something. It seemed to skip so much. How much time went by between the time Gil left and when Anne got all those letters returned? What was she doing during that time- knitting? I hope they will do Anne 4, and make it a little more complete. (07/25/00)
Let me first state I gave it a rating of 1 because I was thrilled to see Anne and Gilbert and some of the past cast in this debauched Anne 3. Mr. Sullivan you made a mistake. Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea were loved because they were based on the novel by L.M. Montgomery. This was the Blessed Formula for a loved movie, but you had to come up with your own script. You should have left it alone. L.M. Montgomery had already done the work and did it right. This Anne Continuing Story was forced, fast and too quick. The setting was inappropriate. We love seeing the Island as in the other novels. Also, who did the makeup on Anne. Fire them. She is a lovely vibrant character and her heavy makeup made her look older. Also, I didn't like the suggestive parts in the movie. Mr. Garrison's robe opening up and Anne looking shocked - INAPPROPRIATE. This is not something Lucy Maud Montgomery would have wrote. Also, a drunk Pastor performing Anne and Gilberts wedding. How could you disrespect this most cherished anticipated moment with such a scene. Also, how does Mr. Garrison fall in love with Anne after only a few scenes with her. This doesn't make sense. None of it did. Thank goodness I was able to see the beloved characters again, but oh Mr. Sullivan you need to listen to the fans. Make a another Anne Sequel and follow the book. I want to see Anne and Gil marry and have children according to L.M. Montgomery's book, not your version. Geez, I will watch the next installment, but what a bitter taste it left in my mouth. Perhaps, Mr. Sullivan you were out fishing for Lake Trout when your writers switched scripts. To all of the original cast, you were great to see again.
I forgot to mention in my other posting about the music. I know the original composer is deceased, but geez, the music was dreary and depressing. Nothing about it was lively and light hearted like in the other Anne movies which were based on L.M. Montgomery's books. I won't be buying the CD to this Movie. How sad to have missed the mark Mr. Sullivan. Additionally, the movie in itself took on the air of a soap opera. Dreary, Dismal and depressing. Not at all a true ANNE Movie. (07/25/00)

While I was happy to see that most of the main characters were still played by the same people, I was fairly disappointed in the movie. It was a good movie, but could never compare to the first two. I absolutely love the first two movies, I've been watching them since I was a little kid. In Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea, most of the movie was happy and uplifting. In this third movie though, it is very depressing. Also, Anne doesn't seem like Anne. She doesn't seem to have much of her trade-mark temper like she used to. I know that she is older in this movie, but most people don't lose that much of their temper in 5 years. There are other things too that I just can't put my finger on that make Anne different. This movie is nothing like the wholesome books and first two movies. It was a fairly good movie, but I was very disappointed.
Sorry, I just posted a review a minute ago, but I forgot something. I just wanted to say that I didn't like the music to this music at all. It wasn't the inspirational and uplifting music that was in the beloved Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea. (07/25/00)
I loved seeing Anne, Gil and the others, however I was very very disappointed about Sullivan not following the book! This did not have the same joy as the other movies. This was dark and gloomy at times and not at all what people expect, since this didn't follow the author's book, no wonder it did not have the spark and wonder! When will Sullivan realize that we love the books, not their interpretation. LISTEN TO THE FANS! I can only pray that they will get a clue and make the 4th one by the BOOK! The marriage scene was rushed and nothing took its time, except for the silly scene involving that other gent! why? why? Why? this movie seemed rushed, it lacked the romance and timing of the last ones. I only watched this because of the charaters, but the story was dismal. I will keep watching my treasured Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlee and pray that if they make a fourth sequel, they will honor the book in which we love! (07/25/00)

I just saw Anne3 and I thought it was wonderful! Very different from what I had expected. I will admit after reading all these reviews I didn't have high expectations. It was nothing like the books, but it was still a fantastic movie. Anne and Gil had grown up and their love for each other was put to the test. It was so strange to see Anne being affectionate towards Gil! Well done Megan and Jonathon! (07/25/00)
Wow! This only makes me realize how long ago they made the orginal Anne series! Meagan Follows has the similar spirit of Anne, but a lot has changed. She looked so old...her face looked so worn and she didn't have the same energy! Crombie was fabulous!!! And it was a treat to see fred and diana...rachel, josie, moody, and diana s mother again! (07/25/00)
I'm a big fan of the series. The fact that "Anne 3" wasn't really based on the series kept it from seeming like a good show. It was good to see so many of the original actors, but it would have been nice if it had been based on the books. (07/25/00)
