Anne 3 Review Book

I too had been waiting for this sequel for some time. However, I don't think it was worth the wait. I was VERY disappointed. It didn't have any of the magic or innocence of the first two movies. It should have been called "Jack Garrison". Since it seemed that most of the movie was about him. It was slow and uninteresting. Unlike both the original movies or the books, I found the characters boring and not very likable. I was glad when it was finally over. In short, not a very good tribute to L.M.Montgomery at all. Well when I heard there was to be a thrid installment of anne I was totally thrilled. I bought it from blackstar and was very suprised with what I saw. The truth is that although it departs from the small town feel of the first two it is well worth the watch, if only to see anne and gil get married..finally!! Give it a try.

Just for the Australian fans: I live in Brisbane and bought in through blackstar.co.uk. Since the uk have the same video format as us you can get it from there. (05/27/00)

i have never seen the movie yet, but i am absolutely positively sure that i will like it! i can NOT wait till it comes out. i do NOT think a movie is bad just because it's not "by the book". it doesn't have to be. again, i can't wait till it comes out. i live in pennsylvania, usa. but i was born in toronto, canada and lived there for 10 and 1/2 years. canada and anne rule! God bless! (05/22/00)

Being from Canada, I had the opportunity to see "The Continuing Story" in March. But don't be too jealous you fans out there that have yet to see. It was not that good. Kevin Sullivan amalgamated Anne's children story and Anne's story into one. In other words, Anne's children story lines were incorporated into Anne and Gilbert's character. The year was way off. It began with the year 1913. Anne would have been around 50 years old but instead she was just about to get married with Gilbert. It was very confusing to say the least. I liked the late 19th century and that's what I like about Anne of Green Gables. Why Kevin Sullivan changed this story is beyond me. No more Anne of Green Gables series if he's going to change the whole story line like this. We should protes this sequel and request him to make another one (more to the book). I think Lucy Maud Montgomery would be very disappointed if she was alive to see this. (05/20/00)

Having the set of the first 4 episodes and being able to buy the new "continuing story" just made me so happy. I have always watched Anne of Green Gables if I am feeling down and it has always cheered me up. The Continuing Story, I watched it all the way through without any breaks. I was glued, I was at the edge of my seat with exitement and I just want to watch it again and again. So if you get the opportunity to buy it, it's worth it. (05/18/00)

I felt so cheated. I have been waiting for part 3 since the closing credits of part 2. I thought the idea of placing them in WWI was strange. Viewers have been waiting for the wedding for years and two scenes is hardly enough to satisfy me. What happened to all of Anne's color and life? She seemed half of herself. I realize war is a difficult time, but Anne seemed distant. Where was the usual dramatic phrases and funny anicdotes? I know, Anne and Gilbert are older, but that part of a personality never changes. I wanted to see more of them together. I wanted to see their life, not the war. The scenes they did share were very touching and wonderful, but there weren't enough. I enjoyed the other two shows for the cheer and good feeling I felt afterward. I was 14 when the first movie came out and it touched me so deeply, that I reread some of the books almost every year. I hope there is another part to this story. It just didn't feel finished. I also remember in the series Road to Avonlea, Gilbert coming back for Marilla's funeral. He said Anne was at home with the sick babies. I hope Sullivan entertainment doesn't think we won't remember this. (05/16/00)

I have never seen the third Anne movie, but I've read many reviews about it. I think that if Sullivan wanted to make another movie with Megan and Jonathon, etc, he shouldn't have pawned it off as an Anne movie. Perhaps he has never read the original books, because I can't understand how anybody, after reading them, would want to change any of it. They're beautiful, and this new movie doesn't sound at all like the wonderful Anne so many of us have grown to love. Maybe the movie will be good, but I for one have no desire to see it. Sullivan, come out with a REAL "Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story", and maybe we can forgive you this mistake. (05/11/00)

I absolutely adore Anne of Green Gables and have read all the books and watched all the films. I looked forward so eagerly to the release of this video and was so disappointed on watching it. I even started to fast forward through the second video, I really do hope that they will do a further video based on events surrounding Green Gables and Avonlea and the actual books they are supposed to be based on. I guess Sullivan ought to be congratulated for getting Danielle Steele in to write the screenplay. Coincidence after coincidence - the only wonder was that the Pringles, Miss Stacey and Josie Pye didn't make it to the battlefields of France too. (05/10/00)
